Dr. Kern Wildenthal, President of UTSW, Announces Retirement

Dr. Kern Wildenthal, today, has announced his plans to retire effective September of 2008, according to a press release from UT Southwestern. Dr. Wildenthal has served as the president of UT Southwestern for 22 years. During his tenure, he has seen the medical center grow to over 8 million sq. ft. spread across 231 acres, a remarkable trend also seen in the system's support from the community. Dr. Wildenthal is responsible for an increase of more than $1.2 Billion in the endowment over the 22 year period.

Dr. Wildenthal has been a strong supporter of the Dallas County Medical Society and a member since 1972. In 2004, Dr. Wildenthal received the Charles Max Cole Leadership Award, a DMCS honor recognizing one member each year for outstanding service to the profession of medicine and to the community.

Dr Wildenthal has meant so much to the Dallas healthcare community. What he has accomplished at UT Southwestern is commendable.
