Proposition 15 Passes - A Victory in the Fight Against Cancer

With over 60% of Texas voters checking the "yes" box, proposition 15 passes without much difficulty. With this comes the creation of the new Cancer Prevention and Research Center of Texas and the issuance of of $3 Billion in bonds over 10 years. The money will be used to fund the treatment, research, and prevention of cancer through the new statewide center. TMA President, Dr. Bill Hinchey, reflects on the victory: “Decades from now, we will look back on this day and realize that our votes truly improved the health of all Texans. Every day, physicians see the heartache and hardship cancer plays in so many patients’ lives. We are thrilled that Texas leadership and our patients have made a true commitment to stop this killer."
